AUTHOR ASSEMBLY

 

 

Every Year, we invite an author to come visit the kids. Children can get their books signed by the visiting author. It's a very exciting event for the kids to meet a real life author.

This year we're going to meet Ted Scheu (http://www.poetryguy.com/) on Tuesday, March 15th. Read some of the poems from his website to acquaint your kids with him. Here is a little snippet from his website so you can get a taste of who he is:

For me, poetry is endlessly amazing, and maybe it is for you too. When I'm droopy and need a little boost, all I need to do is take a long cool slurp from a favorite book of poems, or begin to mix up a poem of my own. Poetry makes me taste the world a little differently. It's mostly pretty delicious.

 

Last year, EVG was thrilled to have author James Preller coming to visit!  Mr. Preller is perhaps best known for his Jigsaw Jones series, and he has penned a number of books for older children as well including Six Innings and Along Came Spider.  His most recent young adult novel, Bystander, was a 2009 Junior Library Guild Selection and, in 2008, Six Innings was reported by the New York Public Library to be among the Top 100 Best Books for Reading and Sharing.
